A Walk in the Woods

A few things came up yesterday that made us decide to postpone the road trip. Since I had already packed a nice "goodie bag" and the weather was just right, we went for a picnic at Crow Wing State Park. Bright sunshine, birds singing, and a cool breeze made the fruit, bread and cheese all taste extra good. Very relaxing and beautiful, the park is full of history as the site of the old town of Crow Wing. After the railroad chose to cross the river at Brainerd, the town collapsed. Many signs of the old, once thriving community are visible, and many interpretive posts explain the history.... We went for a long hike on some of their many beautiful trails. High above the river at a couple of places, the views are inspiring and absolutely gorgeous. A few wood tick discoveries made for some humorous interuptions. A "perfect" day and night.

Today I work a shift on the floor at the store. Another "big sale" should keep it interesting and time will go fast. We almost, hard to believe for June, got frost last night. Some neighbors were covering up their tomatos and preparing, I decided to take a chance. It was mid-thirties when I awoke, and there appears to have been no damage. The bright sunshine will soon warm everything back up and I believe this certainly had to be the last threat of such cold temperatures.

I had a nice phone call last night from Son Charlie. He got very good final grades in college, and landed a very good job working the "front of the house" at the classiest restaurant in all of SW Minnesota. His chef training and love of people and food will make him shine at it. So happy and proud of him!

Time to get serious about getting some things ready for a big rummage sale. Start with the garage, organizing and pricing, then slowly through the house as I decide what I can do without and have fun selling. Oh Yeah!

Until later, may you find Peace as this wonderful Spring day unfolds!
