After all the heavy rainfall on Tuesday, it was exciting to go outside and see what was going on in the gardens. All the plants, flowers and vegies were happy indeed. We dug up some pretty ornamental grasses from my perennial garden and potted them for Peggy's front flower boxes. Looking real good there. I picked over 2 pounds of green beans for supper and there are a lot more on the way. The marigolds really took off and grew lots of buds over night, amazing how quickly the gardens respond to a good soaking. It had rained so much, so fast, that there was deep water standing in some intersections in Brainerd Tuesday night. I've no rain gauge, but reports from some nearby towns were 4 to 6 inches of rain... that's a lot! It got dark as night with the thunder, and Scooter and Charlie snuggled in, a bit nervous.
I worked on the floor yesterday and the store was busy. Peggy came to shop and visit, just as I was getting off and we had fun in the store picking out a couple very nice things. It was late in the afternoon, and getting hungry, we made plans for a good supper. I picked a cucumber and a couple zuchinis and Peggy cooked chicken for a pasta dish.... a great meal with the green beans.
It was so beautiful outside, that we went for a long walk around a park and ball field, then the neighborhood enjoying others yards and gardens.
Yesterday was a very special day.
Today I work again on the floor, restocking after yesterdays big sale, and getting set for a new big sale beginning this morning. Tonight will be for relaxing and kicking back, maybe finishing a movie we had begun, "Get Smart".
Sunshine today will make the yards and gardens thrive. We've got some great ideas for the weekend too.
Summer is alive with all kinds of growth!
Peace!
