Cool cloudy start to a great Summer day

Unusual July weather. It was low 50's when I woke up. The gardens are slowed some, tomatoes are about 3 weeks behind and the peppers are just now blossoming. It must be about perfect for green beans because mine are producing like crazy. I picked a lot yesterday and Peggy cooked them up for a special supper with a delicious Shrimp Alfredo. After supper, we went to the park and played tennis for an hour. Again, laughter, fresh air and exercise made the evening very nice indeed. We went back home for strawberry ice cream with chocolate topping and began watching the new Batman to just kick back and relax. A most enjoyable night of visiting and being together.

It should clear up later this morning, and I hope it does.... it's time to mow the yards and get them looking nice. Peggy's yard is looking really good with all the gardens and flowers, colorful and growing nicely. My gardens are growing well too, the perennials are thriving and the lilies we planted this Spring are shooting up blossoms every day in both yards. We're wondering if August will have more Summer-like temperatures.

I posted another picture of a Passion Flower. It is named for the Passion of Christ, each part of the unique blossom relating to the story. I remember having these large vines growing in gardens when I was a child, and we would gather to watch the buds open, which takes only a minute each day, by the dozens. They open once, close at night and new buds open the next day.
One year our vine was so large, with so many flowers, that the church at the corner had their confirmation class photos taken in front of it.... a very nice memory. We'll be planting some in our garden next year.

Warming up with a cup of coffee is extra good this morning, waiting for the Sun to break through the clouds, drying the lawns. I baked a loaf of bread with rye and whole wheat, oatmeal and cornmeal for good toast, it smells really good. A day off to catch up on yard work, some household things and play with the dogs. Tonight will be relaxing and fun too, finish watching Batman and enjoy a good visit.

I may post later with pictures, we will see what the weather brings....

Good Life and Love is filling our days...... Peace!
