Post Post Post... Really

Should have had this on sooner and posted about the posts before they were set in concrete, but after the fact, this is indeed, a post post post.

Getting the building permit from the city for our new deck, we set up to have our holes inspected for the required 60 inch depth. Wow, that's deep. We drilled down the total 60 inches and got some water in the bottom of the holes... this was not an easy job. The second hole we did not lift out and spin-0ff dirt as we neared the bottom and bogged the machine down totally, literally screwed it into the ground and had to pry it up and out. Whew!

The day was so nice on Saturday, we decided to take off for a ride and late lunch. Zorbaz on Gull Lake was the destination. A fun Mexican Pizza spot on a channel, decks and Sun, good lemonade and raspberry iced tea. Not too big a crowd yet and it was great to watch the boats go by as we ate. Blossoming trees, an oriole calling and fun music made this a great place to spend time.. gotta admit, the Kingpin looked good out front too.



Lots of refills on the iced tea, our Mexican pizza was loaded with jalapenos and goodies... this place is known for very large portions.

We cruised back to Brainerd on back roads and enjoyed our time, after working on the sun-room in the morning. Peggy put a second coat of wall paint on, we conditioned the paneling and went to the store and picked up our new rug and lamp-table. Awesome results, pictures of the new room coming soon!

Sunday was a real trip! Literally! We got up early, ate and packed a few things for the motorcycle, and headed north. We went up north of Duluth and dropped in on "the boys". The fishing opener gang has been at this cabin for about 30 years for the opener, we thought we would surprise them.
They heard us coming, as I had new exhaust pipes installed earlier in the week, and we rolled down into the driveway to
the cabin. What fun, introducing Peggy to my brother Dan, and old friends Jerry, Bruce, Glen, John and Chris. Never a shortage of good food there, we enjoyed cheesecake, venison and assorted hot pickled things with our cokes. Beautiful weather for the ride home too, just a few yellow splatters on the windshield as we hit some sort of bugs. We stopped and took breaks, had coffee and really enjoyed being out on the road.

The posts for our deck are set in concrete, we will begin bolting on the beams and struts, screw the faceplate into the house and other things this week. We drove out to a friends house yesterday who has lots of garden plants for sale and picked up a few herbs and things for the yard, also getting ideas. We are really having a Hoot of a Summer here in Brainerd.

I am excited to see daughter Katie, coming home to Minnesota today from Alaska.... whoopee doopee!
