Some Simmering Summer Selebrating

Outstanding, nothing less.... that's how this late Spring and early Summer has been rolling.

Too busy lately to blog here, we've been excited by how the gardens are bolting and growing in the heat and rain. We're getting Passion Flower blossoms now as the vines grow and weave in the fence corner. Not seeing any buds for a while, Peggy and I thought perhaps we got a mutant plant... then one afternoon, there were 2 big blossoms, more the next day and lots of buds on the way... great plant! I had to string extensions on top of the fence for the new growth.

Great adventure on Nokay Lake kayaking too... another new lake to us, we thought we would try it out for paddling. Very little development, lots of weed growth and interesting shoreline made the afternoon interesting. Loons were calling and we got between a loon and it's echo. A steep walled bank to our left, a loon doing the tremelo about 200 yards out and the call went back and forth constantly for about 20 minutes.
We've never experienced anything like that before.



Great calm evenings for backyard bonfires. Peggy got a couple of high output solar lamps for the gardens, fun to see looking out the windows at night... might help keep critters out of the gardens too.

We burned a couple of citronella candles in pails while we enjoyed the cool evening, chatting and listening to the birds.

Nice to relax like this after our busy days.. the yards are looking real good, and we are glad to have most big projects done or nearly done.

Settling in and watching a little tv (food network usually) sure makes the pets happy. They pile together in front of us and play, wrestle and chew their toys. Looks like Mr. Kitty is about to start some mischief, that's what he does.

Bicycle rides, evening walks, motorcycle rides and other fun Summer stuff keeping smiles on our faces... soon we will be "eating out of our garden"
Last night I made a whole grain pasta dish with freshly picked herbs.

Some trips planned, preparing for a Garage Sale, family visits, yup, keeping busy with fun Minnesota stuff here in Brainerd.

Life and Love continue to be Blessed, miracles happening every day as the Promises come true!
