Ain't Gonna Acknowledge Winter Weather Yet!

In Duluth, we window shopped and went into a few stores downtown. I found this frisky fellow, Nipper, vacationing from his RCA ads. We bought a great blues cd, "The Nighthawks" and shopped around in the place while they burned and packaged it for us... cool new process. Nice to smell the incense and fragrant essential oils while we strolled around.

Peggy is sitting high atop Oberg Mountain overlooking Lake Superior, actually several miles away... great view!

It was cool and crisp, not uncomfortable at all for hiking.

At one of the overlooks on the trail, we got a real perspective of just high up we had hiked... far below us, there were 2 Bald Eagles soaring. We had never seen an eagle from above before.

Clear air, fragrant with pine and cedar, rosy cheeks from the hike, a perfect morning for our Honeymoon Adventure!

This portion of the Gunflint Trail showed us why many vehicles in Grand Marais had inches of snow on them. A narrow belt of snow showers had fallen north and west of the town.

We both thought this scene was surreal, almost looking like white sand and palms in Florida.

Very bright sunlight at times, it was jaw-dropping gorgeous for most of our ride to Honeymoon Bluff.

Not as high as Oberg Mountain, Honeymoon Bluff still had great views of the region.

Lakes were shimmering bright blue, the sunlight and crisp air made this an excellent journey.

Always scanning the shores and low marshy areas for moose, we kept hoping that we would spot one... they are around here, but usually travel and more visible in the early morning hours.

The Pigeon River was churning after the rainfall. The thunderous sound and fine mist in the air was at all rivers and waterfalls we visited.

The left bank of this river is Canada looking towards Superior.

This is below the High Falls, usually only a trickle this time of year. More pictures and story to come!

It is hard to believe that this was about 2 weeks ago, our Honeymoon Adventure is still so fresh in our minds. We are glad we took so many pictures.

I've had no luck deer hunting, but have enjoyed the good time with friends and long days of hiking and sitting in the woods, easing me back to reality after being so far up north.

Back in our cozy home this week, I've made pumpkin wild rice soup and baked bread. We've relaxed and watched a couple movies, went for a very long hike around our Arboretum and are still amazed by our recent memories of Minnesota Beauty.

As our seasons seem to be prematurely changing once again, Life and Love are truly Blessed!

Peace!
