Wedding and Honeymoon for an Autumn Adventure

I do, She do, We do, and then we went and did!

Like a Fantasy Musical, we were wed Sunday, October 24th at 4pm. In the company of God, friends and loved ones, the ceremony was just that... A Ceremony!

We wanted an adventure for our Honeymoon, and we got one. Knowing full well that there was some awesome weather coming to our destination, we headed north Tuesday morning.

There will be more pictures posted later of sites, sightings, hiking and fun.

By the time the storm was over on Lake Superior and the North, it had been classified as an Inland Hurricane!

We had always wanted to see a real Lake Superior storm, showing her power and might, and our wish came true.

From 17 foot waves reported near Grand Marais, where we were staying, to 27 foot waves reported by Canadian officials farther north, the lake thundered and pounded the eastern shore.

We listened to the pounding all Tuesday night, and the roar, like being next to a waterfall. It was still very cloudy dark Wednesday morning as we awakened anxious to look outside and see what was happening with nature.

As we explored and hiked trails, we were amazed by the flow of water in all streams, creeks and rivers... waterfalls that would have been slowly flowing or a trickle this time of year were thunderously roaring over their full top rim.
Awe inspiring!

Peggy is standing near the bottom of Devil's Kettle falls... the kettle is not even visible with the deep pond and river flowing below. She got soaked with mist in the moments she posed for this picture.

There were rocks and debris thrown on the road from the lake, countless thousands of trees toppled, making many back trails covered, and emergency road crews were clearing Hwy 61.

In Grand Marais on Wednesday, there were many cars pulling into town covered with 3-4 inches of snow from a belt of snow that fell near the Gunflint trail.

We hiked the Oberg Mountain Loop, Honeymoon Bluff, parts of the Lake Superior Hiking Trail and many other side adventures.... way too much put in one or 5 posts!

We are Married! Mr. and Mrs. Martin Freeman, Peggy and Marty Freeman and it feels wonderful!

Yesterday, after church and a snack, we took the Kingpin out for a nice long ride for coffee and treats in the 56 degree sunshine. Peggy thinks it is her last ride for the season, I'm in denial, hoping for many more days of riding... warm, late Autumn days. Deer hunting season is here, no luck on Saturday in my tree in the woods (just a nosy porcupine visited)... heading back out on Tues or Weds for Mr. Big Buck.

Back in our cozy home, looking through wedding and honeymoon pictures many times a day, visiting with family and friends... Life and Love continue to be Blessed beyond dreams here in Brainerd!

Peace!
