Thanksgiving Recovery Day

Early start yesterday... I got to our Chapel Kitchen a little after 5 am, ready to roast and prepare goodies for about 80 people.

It was near zero outside, making it a perfect morning to spend in a kitchen. Unwrapping the turkeys, rinsing and seasoning, getting the roasters all set-up, the 20 pounders were all going by 6 am.

The place started really coming alive about 9 when others began showing up with their treats and to help. There is nothing like the aroma of 100 pounds of turkey roasting, and these were special, filled with apple, onion and orange slices.

It was an awesome meal, lots of great people and visiting, and a wonderful day to give thanks!

In the teens and Sunny today, I'm starting some soup, I kept the 5 huge turkey necks to make the soup stock... parsnips and other goodies will go in later and it ought to be fantastic by dinner.

Not jumping seasons, not being conned by the "black friday" hoopla, we are Celebrating Thanksgiving and our Blessings. This might be a good day for a short hiking adventure too.

Hanging out with leftover pie and good coffee, soup simmering, there is nothing black about our Friday here in Brainerd today!

Peace!
