After slicing the cakes and making the 3 custards, Karin is spreading and layering the dessert with anise biscotti crunch. I'm grilling the slices of Swedish sausage on the downdraft grill for the pressed sandwiches. Karin is fabulous at these events, fast, fun and efficient.
Here I'm multi-tasking, making the Bow Tie Al Fredo and have some Bruschetta ready, then cheesing up some more on 1/2 the grill and roasting marinaded potatoes on the other 1/2.
We were both feeling pretty good about ourselves and the clock. The salad fixins were done and we almost thought we were ahead of the game. What a game it turned out to be! Expecting about 65 to 70 "Girls" to sample the foods, watch the cooking and explore the fine Jenn Air kitchen, we had over 100 by 6:30. By the time we were through, about 140 were served, almost an entire meal of samples, all made on the different appliances and some kept in the "warming drawer" that would spoil anyone. Good thing I had some extra groceries to "stretch" the courses.
I'm bushed, but thought I would post some pictures of the cooking going on. It was a riot of fun, conversation and showcasing a wonderful kitchen. We had to print handouts 3 times, there was so much interest in the cooking and techniques. More tomorrow.
Mellowing out with a big glass of ice water and snuggling with Scooter is in order now, and Chell came over at least twice to let Scooter out and sit with him a while.... what a buddy.
Until tomorrow.... Peace!
