Katie and I had to get in a hike, cold as it was. We suited up Scooter and drove to the Arboratum. It was crisp and beautiful as we hiked the cross-country ski trails. We were the only ones there so unclipped Scooters leash and let him run.. and run he did! Such joy. He seemed to be laughing as he ran, jumped and sniffed all the deer tracks and runs criss-crossing the ski trail. About 0 out but sunny and great.
We had leftover beans and ribs with some fried potatoes for supper and watched "Burn After Reading". A good time and a meal was very relaxing.
Katie and I exchanged Christmas Cards and presents, and I'll show you mine tomorrow. I got Katie some cool magnetic worry stones to rub and play with as she works on her term papers and research. Shiney and smooth, they are very powerful magnets and are just a hoot to play with. The necklace was a special order and is the Ancient Alaskan Salmon Symbol for "Protection". I thought that was appropriate for my Alaskan Daughter, and she loves it! I'll also get her some Kayaking gear, maybe a PFD, when she decides just exactly what she needs and sizes for her upcoming Kayaking class at college. SO COOL!
A late Christmas celebration for sure, but was touching and just what I needed.
It is cold and crisp out now, below zero with strong breezes and gusts. I'm going to be lonely when Russ and Katie leave tomorrow, but am ready to handle it. Scooter loves having
them here and everyone get turns for his snuggling. He will sleep good tonight after his long hike and keep me warm and cozy in bed.
I'll post tomorrow with our last times together this visit and pictures of my presents from Katie.
Until then... Peace!
