After breakfast, we cleaned up a bit and headed over to Chells house across the street for a visit. He was so glad to see Katie and Russ again. Katie sat by Chell and they talked about Katie's college and classes as he took notes and shared his experiences. A really good time.
I baked 2 loaves of bread this morning, both with rye, cornmeal, oatmeal, and flax. Katie is bringing one with back to Slayton, and I bet Russ talks her out of a big end cut.
Scooter loves the smells of the kitchen and watched as we got everything ready to eat, going back and forth between the 3
of us.
After eating, Katie took pictures of me with the presents she brought me for Christmas. A really cool Alaska tee shirt, a bar of Alaskan Cedarwood/Patchouli soap that smells like my favorite incense, an Alaskan rounded knife and curved out cutting board set called an "Ulu" (really will be great for chopping herbs and developing a new knife skill), a framed picture of her and her boyfriend Charlie, and some interesting rocks. The rocks were so interesting because one was a piece of quartz I found in the field by the hobby farm we had years ago and I had given it to Katie when she was very young because it was pretty and she could hold it and rub it to easy worries. One is a layered rock that she found and the most intriguing is a chunk of some kind of ore that is magnetic that she found on a mountain trail. Get this!... it is
the magnetic ore used to make the polished stones I gave Katie for a present. The picture shows the stones in their ore
The house is a bit empty and lonely now, but I'm okay with that, we had an excellent few days, Super Bowl fun, a hike and lots of good times and talk.
I've got to take Scooter for a ride and get some needed grocerys and then see what else the day
Until later... Peace!
