Paddle Pusher's Spring Meeting and Feast

Fun night. There was a "gear swap" and many members had brought kayaks and related equipment for display and for sale.... fun to browse and look at as the excitement grows for the upcoming paddle season. The food was fabulous of course, Famous Dave's does a great job with BBQ, and the coleslaw was some of the best I've had.

The seasons schedule was covered after dinner, and an ongoing prize drawing between topics added to the excitement. I won 2 reusable shopping bag stuffies.... very cool. A reunion, great people and fun!

These gizmos are cook-stoves made from aluminum cat-food and perhaps a tuna can. They can be filled with Heet gas treatment and with a pot set on top, will pressurize the flames to come out the holes like a burner. Very efficient and boil a pot of water in a few minutes. Easily packed with a fuel bottle filled with the Heet, would make a cooker for kayaking, camping or backpacking, taking up little of the available space, a real plus.
The specialized devices bought, with different fuel sources, run $50 and up... so I thanked the member that showed these to me, I figure he saved me about $80 from buying one of those from REI or other outfitter.

A chilly start to this Tuesday, as the Sun rises and the day begins... we'll see what else happens today in Brainerd.

Until next time..... Peace!
