Good show in the backyard yesterday, and Great Cookies Today

Tuesday was an awesome day, weather-wise and in many other ways too. It was perfect for weeding, watering, reflecting and relaxing. I got a coat of primer on the flower box made out of an old long shipping crate for the front yard. The dogs pretty much sunned all day in the back. A huge cheeseburger for a late lunch and I was ready for work.

There was a barking commotion in the back and I went out to see Scooter attempting again to climb a tree. I saw, hiding near the top of an evergreen, some kind of squirrel that I didn't recognize high up behind a branch. I tried over and over to get a
picture of Scooter way up the trunk, but the timing of the camera made that impossible. I put on a picture from last year, when I did get lucky, showing the altitude he can reach jumping... and this was not his highest jump. Charlie didn't care and just sat and watched frustrated Scooter... it was comical indeed. The squirrel was a combination of gray and brown and appeared to have some black on it's face... a hybrid?

We went out last night for iced coffee drinks after a good meeting and rented a comedy movie from the Red Box. New in Town, I think it was called with Harry Connick Jr. (sp?). A funny movie set
New Ulm Mn. about a food manufacturing company. Lots of silly "Minnesota Talk" and good acting made for lots of laughs.

Today, I was in the mood for cookies. I was reading an old cookbook of Peggy's and came across this recipe for Oatmeal Peanut Butter Raisin Cookies and had to bake some... they are marvelous! I ate 4 as soon as they were cooled enough.

Tonight I'm making Sloppy Joes for a late supper and then a bonfire in the backyard. The weather
should be great for relaxing and listening to
music and visiting.

I may mow lawns later this afternoon... so nice to do that and make our yards look nice. Peggy got her flower boxes painted this morning and we placed them on her front steps to fill with flowers later, they look like they came with the house with the color she chose.

I'm not sure what all else I'll get into on this perfect Summer day off, I talked to Katie in Alaska and their days there get a little dark about 11 at night and it begins getting light around 2 in the morning.... how about that? Whatever I do, a lot will be outside in the Sun, feeling good. Looking forward to tonight and those Sloppy Joes already.

Peace!
