Birthday Fun and a Labor Day Weekend

Wow!.... what a day! Peggy's Birthday yesterday.. a day of rejoicing, celebrating and enjoyment. We started off by heading to the flooded iron mines of Crosby. The morning was perfect, cool with little breeze and lots of sunshine. This is a chain of lakes made by the remains of an old iron mine. When it became too costly to keep pumping out the water the operation was abandoned and became this recreational area. This is crystal clear and DEEP... 200 to 300 feet deep or more in places. Perfect for scenic kayaking. The tops of trees eerily poke up from near shorelines, fun to navigate, and looking down, fish and other fun things to see. We
paddled more than 2 hours and went into 3 different lake areas back in this wonderful place.

We then cleaned up, changed and headed north to Walker to explore that town and meet up with one of Peggy's daughters. We had great coffee drinks and some treats before going into shops and just having fun in the perfect weather. The 3 of us played tennis by Leech Lake in the park and had a ball! After her daughter headed home, Peggy and I had a nice dinner before driving back with the rising Moon to Brainerd.... A great way to spend a Birthday.

Today, since the kayaks are still loaded, we will head out again to paddle... I'm thinking Rabbit Lake near Riverton. Then we'll see what other mischief we can get into the rest of the day and evening.... it will be great, whatever we decide.

We found a recipe for a good tomato chili sauce and with all the tomatoes and peppers coming from the garden, will cook up and can some tomorrow. A great way to use up the vegies and have something wonderful to eat and share.

Many Blessings coming our way, the changing seasons making everything special.... very special.

I've got the camera recharged, and will take pictures of more kayaking and adventures soon, as this Labor Day weekend goes on.... wishing it would never end.

Peace!
