Frigid 2010 Opening

Fantastic New Year's Eve... the full Moon was rising as we headed east on the snowmobile trail at sunset. Huge and orange, the crisp clear air made the scene surreal. The machine ran perfectly and the stiffer suspension kept the ride smooth for the both of us. We saw no others using the trail, probably too early. A very nice ride.

We came home to be cozy. I had sauteed finely diced carrot, onion and celery with a bit of garlic and cooked a small dice white potato for the Oyster Stew, it was waiting, and we were hungry for our New Year's Eve Celebration Dinner!
Oyster stew is a "make and serve" soup. So I quickly began heating the cream and milk to finish it. We had a few appetizer treats and some good hot coffee while the stew got done.

Delicious and a perfect special soup for this kind of night! Traditional and warming with a hint of cayenne, it made our already rosy cheeks rosier.

We rented and watched "Hangover". After Peggy and I had both heard from people that it was not what we might expect from such a title, we thought it might be a good relaxing choice for the holiday. It was a very good movie. We laughed
so hard in places, almost closed our eyes in others, watched friendships develop, and enjoyed the plot evolution... glad we chose it. A comedy/action drama for sure!

Yesterday, New Year's Day... Yippee! We relaxed, munched some good leftovers and treats, did a bit of shopping, had company for cookies and coffee, and celebrated the coming of 2010. Great news late last night with Peggy hearing she has a new Baby Grand-daughter. Awesome!

A chill was put on the New Year, literally! It is brutally cold here this morning. Minus 30 with a slight breeze. It will not even warm up to above zero today, and will stay well below zero for a few days, if the predictions are correct. Poor Scooter and Charlie, not able to stay out long, will have to be content with quick trips outside. I'll give them each a big rawhide chew, giving them something to do. A bit nervous last night, it was like they knew that dangerous weather was approaching. Everything mechanical, feels and works differently when it is THIS cold, scary indeed!

I may post later with weather news or activity update.... we'll see.

Warm in Spirit, Love and Heart though with the Arctic Cold outside....

Peace!
