A Good Day for What Else?

Baking... that's what else. We've got to keep the Holiday Season rolling here, so baking cookies sounded good. These are "melt in your mouth" Smorbakels. Smor is "butter", and bakel is "cake" or "cookie". They are not exactly the kind my Mother used to bake, but close. Peggy is going to need some good sweet treats when she gets home, so today was perfect for smelling up the house with the aroma of these babies.

This has been perfect toast eating weather, and this good, hearty bread makes the best. Cornmeal, oatmeal and whole wheat flour is added to make it wholesome and nutritious.

It was a couple degrees below this morning, it may hit the teens later.... good day to go for a walk too and get some fresh air. The cold air, and yesterday with the stiff breeze, it was unpleasant to be outside for more than a few minutes here. I did venture out to the store, but the roadways were about empty and the stores were slow too. Maybe a lot of people were already out ice fishing or snowmobiling, I did hear some sleds and see a few going down our street on the way to the trails.

My Christmas present amaryllis is growing some, but not "photo worthy" yet... I'll post a picture when it straightens up. Mr Kitty is sleeping upside down in a rocker, Scooter and Charlie are napping under a quilt and the other 2 cats are hiding around somewhere... slowing down in this Winter weather.

I saw a shooting start last night, from the NNE to SSW about 8 pm. There may have been more had I stayed out longer, but geesh, it was nippy cold out.
